It's Just Not Right!!

When we are in the last week of Feburay and for us to get snow!!  And these weren't little snow flakes that you sit there for ten minutes with another sisters going back and forth...Sister: "Yes, I think it's snowing" Me "No I don't see anything", Sister: "Yes!  See it's snowing!  There are flakes there, and there, and there!", Me: "Oh, I guess there might have been a tiny flake right there but you can barely call that snowing!!"

The flakes were there.  They were huge, you could see them while driving down the road and from what the girls tell me it stuck and they had a snowball fight!  Which is more then they had in Vancouver, where they had rain yesterday.  lol

Me?  I just froze in the wind, rain, and sometimes sleet with Christin and mom selling milk, yogurt, and kefir to those faithful customers who braved the "Winter storm warning" that had been put out for Houston.

Did you know there's a reason that I live in Houston?  Well, besides the fact that that's where my family resides and that's where the goats that I milk happen to be.  lol  It's the fact that I HATE being cold!  I( would much rather have the heat and humidity then the freezing cold and snow where I can't run around barefoot, where I always have to wear a bulky jacket, and where there's always the risk of freezing!

Much as I love watching the winter Olympics and would love to go Bobsledding or Skiing, I don't think I could handle the weather to do so.

Now, to go hunt around in the kitchen and see if we have any hot chocolate, (since we ran out of coffee yesterday) and if we don't, then hunt to see if we have a tea that I might like.  Y'all enjoy your day!

(Oh, look Sara.  I blogged about the weather again!  lol )

You know it's cold when...

It's WAY To Cold!!!  The next time I post in the summer about how hot is, please remind me of this post!!

You know it's cold when you have to send someone out every couple hours to break the ice of the animal's waters.

It's WAY to cold when your pond has ice around it and your 7 year old sister says "The pond is half frozen!!".

You know it's cold when at noon you can see your breath.

You know it's cold when your siblings under the age of 7 don't want to get out of bed, even to watch a movie.

It's WAY to cold when you look at the weather and it's 30 with a windchill of 20 at 2!!

(And yes Sara I do know that this is yet another post about the weather. lol )

Weather (again)

When it comes to blogging there have been two things that some of my family members have accused me of doing...

1) I blog entirely way to much about the weather (Hey, I'm the daughter of a farmer what else can you expect?) and

2) I blog way too much. (Which one of my sisters followed up with "Well, she talks a lot, so what should you expect?").

So, here I go again--Blogging yet another post on the weather. :D Just what Sara and dad want to see. lol

My motto in the winter is "I was not raised in the South to be used to this weather!!" This weather being anything under 45 degrees. Well, this week I am going to be getting my full of that bitter northern weather that I HATE!!

It's currently 45 with a wind chill of 39! Our highs will be in the 50s with lows in the 30s during the day. At night we are looking for it to be in the lower 30s to upper 20s. Way to cold if you ask me!! And my dad is crazy enough to think that he will get me out of bed way too early to go to market on Saturday where it's projected to be in the 40s!! He's crazy, but then he's right so what am I talking about?

The World Is Coming To An End!!!

You know the world is coming to end when it's forecasted to  snow all day in Field Store, Texas!!!

In a post yesterday, I talked about the possibilities of there being snow flurries Thursday or Friday. Well it turned out I was wrong (yes, I admitted it, I was wrong).  From the very begging there was really no chance for it happening today, rather it was all forecasted for tomorrow.

When there is always a chance for snow the weather is checked every hour to see if there are any changes as the kids are praying for snow. Well, the weather did change, but all in favor of snow.

One place I saw said that they weren't 100% certain about Houston's chances for snow, but that most definitely north of I-10 was going to get some snow.  )For those of you that don't know it Swede Farm is North of I-10.)  But then this afternoon it changed yet again and again all for snow.

We are now starting the day in the upper 30's with the day getting colder as it goes.  My dad read somewhere that we have chance of anywhere from 2-4 inches of snow.  I'm not so sure if I can believe that.

But then when you look at weather.com and see it forecasting slight snow, snow, or snow shower and when you notice that it says that Waller is under a winter storm warning you know you’re in for some trouble. lol

I sure wish there was some way the goats could milk themselves and the milk could pasteurize and bottle it’s self so that I don’t have to leave the warmth of my room.  :D  Oh, well I guess tonight is the time to pull out the sneakers and thicker jacket. lol

It's COLD!!

And it promises to get colder!

Yeah, I know those of you North of us are going to comment on the fact that I'm currently warm.  But for this southern girl it is slightly chilly!  It's 47 with a wind chill of 41.  All my siblings are running around with arctic jackets on, and think I am crazy to be going around with a short sleeve shirt and sleeveless jacket (if I could get away with it I would have my window open as well).  :D

Though the big news right now that is going through the house, is that there is a small chance that there might be snow flurries Thursday or Friday.   :D

While the older people in the house and those that have to either be out with the goats when they kid or who are milking are praying that it doesn't snow. While the younger children and those with inside jobs are praying that it will snow  (just in case you’re wondering I'm in the "No Snow, Please" camp).

But those who want snow can't wait to see it and won't stop talking about it.  As if they didn't get enough snow four and half years ago in Virgina.

Texas Weather

I've lived here for 21 years; in fact I've not lived anywhere else. I've never been out of the state for longer than 14 days. But the Texas weather always amazes me. :D How you can go from hot, muggy, and almost killer to nice, cool, and wonderful in the space of 12 hours (and sometimes less time than that) has always and will always amaze me.

Yesterday it was 92 degrees, tying a record set back in the 1931. :D Today? Well right now its 63 degrees with the highs predicted to be in the mid to upper 70s. It promises to be a wonderful day and weekend, with the highest we get all weekend being.

If I could find a place where it was always in the lower to mid 70s I could very well be tempted to leave my home state (which is saying something!). :D

Everyone enjoy your weekend, be it snow, rain, or like us cool and clear. :D

It's HOT! WAY To Hot!!

You know it's hot when you look at the weather and read it's 88.8 (one site said it was 90), when the heat index is 101 and when you realize that you just might tie the record if it gets any hotter!!

And we decided that today would be a great day to work outside, since it's not raining!

I sure hope that that what they say about the weekend being in the mid to upper 70's is correct, because I am not sure I can take much more of this heat and humidity!!!

Two Things

I have two things to mention before I head out the door with Linnea and Noah for the Woodlands market.

1) Our backup washer is broken! Laundry is backing up at an alarming rate, we are stuck without our main washer while the new part comes in and I think I might scream if we go one more day without washing laundry! (Just in case you missed it this pas week my mom was talking about our new jobs and mine was laundry)

2) What is up with the weather?!? Here it is two days left until June and it's feeling like March. Not like I am complaining, I love it!! But I am wondering what's gong on. :D Oh, well I'll enjoy it while I can and stop complaining.

Have an enjoyable Saturday and Sunday!

Is it Spring or Winter?

Either I can't except the fact that it is still Winter OR the weather can't decide if it should be Winter or Spring right now. With it being 45 degrees out right now I would think it's winter, but the 80 degrees we had a couple of days ago has me a bit on the frustrated side of things. At this point I just think it's the weather that is confused, since I have seen and heard a number of things to show me that it's spring. Here are a few pictures to help y'all see why I was thinking it might be Spring.....

Oh, and besides these pictures, I heard a nest of some sort of baby birds fighting over something, a couple days ago. I have yet to hear that sound in the winter!!

Our Apple Tree (or is it a pear tree?)

The fruit blossoms.

A rose from our bushes by the deck.

The Gardenia bush right outside the dairy

Some pictures of our new goats.--Our future milkers.
Chow time!!

"I want MY picture to be taken!" (They are almost worse then the two legged kids when it comes to a camera!)
"GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!"

My Garden.......

Yes, that is my garden and yes it is taking my entire desk. Why is that? Well for two reason 1) Spring, sprang up on me. 2) The freezing weather that we have been dealing with here at Swede Farm, caused any and all of my plants (including the lemon drop tree that I bought two months ago).

In my garden I have, three different tomato plants, three different peppers, two different squash, cucumbers, herbs, and a lemon drop tree. I am hoping that I will be able to get some work done on the beds, in the early part of this up coming week. And by this time next week to have the garden all in. But with the girls coming back I don't know much work I am really going to get done. Hey! Maybe I can put them to work in my garden! Hmmmm.....I wonder how that will work and if they will do it.....Hmmmmm.....Somthing to think on! lol

So Much For My Spring Post,

Yesterday it was a little warm. It would have been really bad if it were not for the breeze that we had. But inside I thought we were going to have to turn on the AC for a little bit.

Today? Well, today we have a fan in two or three windows and that is keeping the entire house cool! And here I thought we were heading into spring and summer. But no! The weather has to tease me with a hint of winter. Saying "And you thought it was spring, almost summer? Packed your winter clothes away and pulled out your shorts? What were you thinking?!" (Doesn't matter that my winter clothes are only two jackets and a couple long sleeve shirts.)

So, here I sit with it in the low 70's a nice breeze and a bit of rain making it feel as if we were headed into fall instead of spring. :-S Truth be told, I don't mind this weather, in fact I love it. But when I get nice and hot and then a few days of cool, it can sometimes be classified as mean. lol
