Meet My Family--Noah, Judah, & Seth

Meet the three younger boys, Noah (hiding behind his brother), Judah (Hanging upside down), & Seth (Below, The one on a saddle being a ham). No, they do not get their own post, you have to group them all together, as that is how they live their lives currently.

For two years Noah and Judah were the dynamic duo, now the combo of three boys is the terrible three. Who are bound & determined to break any & all ER trip records, give me gray hair & be oh so cute all at the same time.

Noah's the one that by the age of two had all ready been to the ER four times & sent his brother their once, while Judah had been there twice & sent Noah there once as well. So far Seth has not gone to the ER for an injury, only for going for pneumonia.

Where ever Noah is, then you shall find Judah & where ever Noah & Judah are thou shalt find Seth. The hang around each other and play with each other like nobodies business. You can tell from the way that they act they LOVE each other & wouldn't know what to do without out them. (Seth was a wee bit lost while in the Hospital a month or so back.)

These boys are so caring & giving. Always giving gifts and trying to help mom, dad, Chris, Grace or myself. On the other hand it seems like they are always teasing or picking a fight with Emma on down.

When Seth was born & there were three boys under the age of three I thought for sure I would go crazy, (no comment from the peanut gallery PLEASE!!) and though I have found a few gray hairs and I have lost some sleep thanks to them and their always wanting to sleep with "K K". I am so grateful that God has blessed my life with them & I can't even imagine life without them!!

Mr. Destructo the ever amazing (current) five year old in the house says that he wants to call Judah "bookshelf" and Black Jack "Peanut Butter".
I love the boy!!

Sports News, What Fun!!

I wait for years for this, no matter where it is, no matter what the date I'm there parked in front of the TV to watch the Nations file in announced in three different languages, while the whole world watches to see who is the best at each sport.

Yes, I am talking about the Winter Olympics, though I do enjoy watching the summer games as well there's just something about the winter games that draws me more than the summer games. I've looked forward to every four years to watch the games since 1998 and the Nagano Olympics.

No, please don't ask me which is my favorite sport I go back and forth between spots. Ask me now and I might say speed skating, ask me in thirty minutes and I will tell you Luge. But then I can't forget Skeleton, Curling, Bobsled, Skiing or Hockey.

On another sports topic, the Astros' pitchers and catchers reported to Florida today to mark the start of Spring Training and we found out in the last two days that Timothy and Noah will both be playing for the Astors in the Waller little league. Noah for T-ball 5 (which dad said he would never do, until he saw Noah the last couple years) and Timothy for the Minors. What fun!! :D

Clothespins

I've been hanging laundry on the line for well over 7 years.  It might be close to ten years now, I can't really remember, but I do know that only in the past year or so have my problems with clothespins started.  Some how, some way they disappear on me

I don't know what it is, maybe it's some birds think they are a tasty looking item or maybe the squarels think that the clothespins will hold them over if they run out of acorns during the winter.  In all honesty I think that it might have something to do with Noah and his "drive by laundry snatching", which he does occasionally and has taught to his two younger brothers (who don't do it as often, but have been known to do it).  lol

And what might this "drive by laundry snatching" be and how does it contribute to my losing clothespins?

Well, Noah rides under one of my clothes lines on his bike, tractor, legs, or what ever other means of transportation he uses and right when he gets under the laundry he reaches up, grabs the laundry pulls and rides on, sending clothes one way, clothespins another and the line "singing like a bowstring as soon as the arrow leaves the bow".

What does he do with the clothes that he has pulled off the line?  If I am standing there he throws it at me, if there's a basket within the region of his running he drops it in there and if neither are aviable he drops it on the ground.

Why does he do it?  Just for the fun of it, to see if he can grab the laundry, get it off the line, and not break stride.

Oh, to not have to worry about dirty laundry (as he would wear it dirty with no problems if he had to).  Oh, to not have to worry about work (as his jobs are completed within minutes of finishing a meal).  Oh, to be young again.  lol

At least I know I have a good chance of find the clothespins on the ground around the line, but it does call for extra work and I can't always guarantee that I will find them all.  Atleast I get a good laugh every time I see Noah's "drive by laundry snatching".

I have warned him though that the next time he does it he's hanging the laundry by himself and you now what?  It's worked so far, he's not taken any laundry off the line the last couple days and my pins have not gone missing.  If only the rain would stop and I could hang the laundry again.  lol

Goodness!!

The dare devil has lived to be FIVE!!!

This little man has been causing trouble or testing our patience since...Well, since before he was born. lol

From decided that the best way to get outside would be to go through a window--While it was closed! To thinking that the many book cases we own are his personal jungle gym.

Then there is the constant sword or fist fighting the he feels has to go on all day, be it with a brother or by himself. (I think he might have to do Football rather than baseball lol)

And the hard thing? Those blue eyes and blond hair make him way to adorable! And I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that 5 years ago I had not even met the little man yet. He was 24 hours old before I got to meet him, but then by the time he got home, he had worked his way into my heart and to be honest, Well......He's my favorite 5 year old. lol

Now to see if the blond hair, blue eyed terror can live another five years.

Some Things Amaze Me

Such as the fact that one of my siblings asked me last night about something that happened, when I was a kid. lol--I forget that to them I am an adult.

Or Noah's look when he asked me about what City I used to live in--I forget that he was born in the country.

Or that there are some people at market who more readily believe that I am the oldest of 11 children, then that I am 21!

Boys!!

Right now could be the best time to confess that I lied in my last post, it's really four addictions. Right now might also be a good time to talk about them, but I really don't feel doing that.

Rather, I am going to talk about these two lovely, wonderfully fun filled, anxiety provoking, and loving boys. :D

These two boys, who are trying to send mom to her grave early, give dad gray hair he never should have, and test my abilities at assessing injuries.

If you remember back about five weeks ago, I posted about a trip to the ER on Father's Day, where Judah was cut right by his eye during a 'sword fight' with Noah. Well, yesterday Judah decided it was payback time. :D

As we are getting ready for Tuesday's market Noah and Judah are keeping themselves happy by playing football with a brass bowl!! Well, Judah threw it to high and Noah couldn't catch it and ended up getting cut on the top of his head.

I will tell you that with four brothers under the age of ten and living on the farm I have seen my fair share of injuries, and more then my fair share of head wounds, but this one took the cake! Not, very large, in fact once I got it cleaned up it took a few minutes to figure out what we needed to do for it. But it was the bloodiest wound I have had. He kind of looked like he could have come from a battle science in "Gods and Generals".

We got him cleaned up and headed out the door with mom for the ER in Navasota, while I headed in the other direction for our market.

Three hours and two staples later, I head back home with Noah while mom took over at the market (I had a list of things to do at home). By the looks and sounds of it you would never know that he had a nice looking cut and bump on the top of his head. He spent the next two hours (wonderful Houston rush hour traffic!) tell me how to driving and what to do!

I really love my brothers and an extremely happy that God has blessed me with them; I just wish they would cut out the ER trips. Timothy alone outnumbered all of us girl's injury ER trips! And with Noah and Judah we are at triple the trips, I think we might need to do something to keep Seth safe, sound, and intact, because he is showing promises of following after Noah and that is the LAST thing we need! lol

(Oh, and I have nothing against boys!! Really, it's just that the four in our house tend to drive me to distraction and sometimes, that is all I can think to say "BOYS!!!")

Books

For a lack of anything better, I am going to share with y'all my brothers--Noah (4) and Judah (2)--Favorite books.

Number one on the list is "I Know an Old Texan Who Swallowed a Fly" by Donna D. Conner.

"I Know an Old Texan Who Swallowed a Fly.
I don't know why he swallowed the fly.
Perhaps he'll die."

So begins, a Texan Dr. Sues alike. Where the Texan swallows one type of critter after another, with hopes that it will catch the first critter…..the fly. We don't know why, perhaps he'll die? It's a great book, easy to read and a pain to forget!

Second on the list is"Ima & the Great Texas Ostrich Race" by Margaret McManis
"Papa told me not to brag too much, I promised I wouldn't. Papa says a lady knows her own worth and doesn't have to tell everyone. People listen to Papa all over the state of Texas. I listen too...most of the times. "

Ima gets herself and her ostrich into a race against her brothers and their horses "They had the best quarter horses money could buy". Will Ima and ostrich win or Ima's brothers and their horses win?

Then third on the list is "Texas Alphabet" by James Rice.

"A is for Alamo, where brave men fought and died, buying time for Sam Houston to gather the forces to win Texas’ independence.

B is for Jim Bowie, a knife-fighting, card-laying dude from Louisiana who crossed over to Texas to become a hero at the Alamo.

C is for Comanche, the best light cavalry in history, and probably the fiercest, if you go by what the old settlers said."

This is a great book on Texas history, it might be a little above their heads, but they love it and when the time comes for them to really know their Texas history they will already have a good base for it. Plus the artwork is really nice. :)

So, did you sense a theme? There are a few things we are taught from a very young age, one of which is that we are Texan! And every one of us is proud to tell you that we 100% Texan, born and raised here. In fact a few of us have thought living in Virginia would be great, what with all the history there. The only draw back...We wouldn't be living in Texas. :D

Time Alone?

If you read my mom's blog you probable read her posts about the questions that she gets about being the mother of a large family. Well being a member of that family and esp. because I am the oldest I get my fair share of questions.

The one that I think I get the most is "When, if ever do you get time alone?!?" I laugh and reply with "All the time! All I need to do is walk into my room and lock the door! Or stay up late or get up early.". :D In any case I do get time alone, I did this morning, over two and half hours worth.

I had to get up early this morning for more than one reason....I needed to do my laundry and diapers for Seth and I wanted to get them started before everyone else was awake and telling me what they needed washed for markets tomorrow or Church on Sunday.

Also, I wanted to make some Capra-Cino, I have let down one too many people at market because I didn't have any. So, to make sure we had enough 'plain' milk and to do the Capra-Cino, I had to get going real early so we can have our pizza and possible movie tonight. :D Not, to mention early to Bed. :D

So, I got up an hour before anyone else and started laundry, and then headed out to the dairy where I pasteurized 19 gallons of milk. As I cleaned the processing room (washing any dirty dishes, clean the floor, wipe down the processing table, etc.) and labeled any product that wasn't labeled, I took the quite time to listen to R. C. Sproul's CD of the month (This month is on the book of Revelations).

Towards the end of the CD I realize that it is very quiet and what I am noticing is what people mean when they ask if I ever get time alone. I start wondering if this is what I really want and like.

About the time when I start thinking that if it continues in the same quite pattern that I just might go "stark raving mad". Noah sneaks into the dairy (Making him the second person awake in our family today), wraps his arms around me and says "I LOVE YOU K K!!".

After, I get over my fright, I realize that having time alone might be a nice thing, if you are used to it. But I am not and I miss having my siblings with me. Really, who could pass up time with Noah while he cleans the floor without being asked and wipes down tables, all because he saw you working and wanted to help you?! The entire time he is cleaning he is also chattering away about Judah this.....And Seth that....And why do I do this....And mom said....

It's after about thirty minutes of just Noah and me time, while we clean, sing, and talk that I realize that there might be something in this alone time.....And that is when there are two boys under the age of 5 in the same room playing!!! LOL

That's Just NOT Right!!!

So, a few minutes ago I was playing with Grace, Sara, Noah, Judah, and Seth. :D

Grace and I were on my bed with Seth sandwhiched between us and a blanket on top of us, protecting us from the "monsters". While the monters (aka Sara, Noah, and Judah) where attacking us trying to get Seth from us.

They decide to do a mass attack, Noah on one side, Judah on the other, and Sara at our feet to take the blanket. So, Sara rips off the blanket and I look up, just in time for something to hit me in the nose. (Square on! He couldn't have aimed better.)

When I open my eyes enough to see what it was, I realize that Noah has just thrown my purse at me!! I guess that's what I get for carrying a 300+ page, hardcover book around in my purse! lol I thought it was supposed to be the other way around!

Only From A Toddler!

I had a conversation with this little mister a couple days ago.

Me: "What are you doing?" (As I walk to the computer that Noah is messing with.)

Noah: "I'm messing with the computer."

Me: "You messed it up! Why did you do that?!?"

Noah: "Because I wanted to. It's my job!" As he runs off with a huge grin.

We knew we were in for trouble when we saw those blues eyes like mom and blonde hair like dad's, but we were not prepared for the tornado that he has turned out to be!! Some days he causing me to go into fits of laughter, while other days he cause me to go crazy!! But, through it all I love him and would NEVER wish that I didn't have him!! :- D
